John Lawson’s North Carolina childhood would provide the initial setting for the first stirrings of the artistic urges within him. The third of six children, the need for self-expression became a dominant force in his life. Motivated by a desire to communicate his feelings, emotion and sensibilities. John would find his voice through the artistic process. The desire for self-expression would set him on a journey to convey with great passion, a visual commentary of the human experience. With great discipline and control his work is a celebration and enthusiasm for the world around him. A dynamic perspective provides John with a unique vantage point to examine the family of man on many levels. Therefore he is in constant pursuit of the beauty, conflict and the mysteries of life. The need to explain the world around him would find it’s expression through his love for drawing, oil painting, pastels and airbrush. One is immediately engage by his portraits figurative work, landscapes and still lifes. Now a Bridgeport Connecticut resident, john’s work has been seen throughout the tri state area. He also receives a great deal of satisfactions serving in a mentorship capacity for others. Conducting workshops and providing art instruction for the young and old alike.
