<div>Millicent will talk about her long life filled with creative endeavors. These include having a dance troupe and performing; collecting hats; collecting hundreds of dolls from all over the world; doing photography; and painting. She will talk about influences on her art, and about her family history. She will also show a video of her dance troupe.</div>

<div>This will be followed by a discussion, led by <strong>Alice</strong>, on Pricing Your Art: how to determine the price, adding sales tax.</div>
<div>There will be refreshments and a showing of art by members.</div>

<p>Our featured speaker will be Leonard Everett Fisher with a survey of his painting and illustration over a period of 71 years.</p>

<p>Born in New York City in 1924, a WWII veteran, and Yale graduate,  Leonard Everett Fisher is a longtime Westport resident.</p>
<p>In a career spanning 65 plus years, he has illustrated some 260 books for young readers (authoring 90 of these), designed United States postage stamps, executed paintings for the Norwalk Transit District Building, and created numerous easel works. His paintings, drawings, and illustrations are in collections nationwide including those of the Butler Art Institute, the New Britain Museum of American Art, the Library of Congress, the New York Public Library, Mt. Holyoke and Union Colleges, and Brown University. The Universities of Connecticut, Minnesota, Southern Mississippi, and Oregon maintain significant archives of his works and papers.</p>
<p>Leonard holds many awards from Yale, Catholic Library Association, and University of Minnesota; an Italian Pulitzer painting prize, a National Jewish Book Award, and the Christopher Medal for Illustration.</p>
<p>He is Dean Emeritus of the Paier College of Art and a member of the Low Illustration Committee of the New Britain Museum. He is a founding member of the Westport-Weston Arts Council, past president of the Westport Library Board of Trustees, and recipient of Westport&#8217;s Lifetime Achievement Award for the Visual Arts.</p>
<p>Leonard’s art has been seen at the Brandywine River Museum, the Chicago Art Institute, and the Smithsonian National Postal Museum. The International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, England includes him in its Y2K compendium, 2000 Outstanding Artists and Designers of the 20th Century.</p>

<p>Our FEATURED PRESENTER will be  Bridgeport artist, KEVIN CONKLIN. He will show his work and talk about how he has earned a living as an artist.</p>

<p>Kevin attended Paier College and Massachusetts College of Art. Then, for many years, he was a successful illustrator for numerous advertising, corporate and editorial firms, including Amex, GE, Citicorp, Golf Digest, Tennis Magazine, and many more.  He now is a painter and a frame maker. His oil and oil pastel paintings of cityscapes and landscapes show his fascination with light and shadow and with color. He is inspired by “the beauty and serenity of nature” and by “the dynamic energy of cities”. He says that his “goal is to create paintings infused by the spirit within the subject matter”.</p>
<p>Kevin has shown his paintings in many galleries in New York and Connecticut, including a recent show at the Southport Gallery.</p>

The works he will show were done as part of an Image Ideation process developed over many years and drawn from his imagination.</p>
<p>Jak has been on the faculty of Silvermine for fifteen years, and taught industrial design for many years at University of Bridgeport and at Yale. He has exhibited his paintings, drawings, sculpture, and graphics in more than 700 regional, national, and international museums, universities, and institutions, including the Museum of Modern Art and the National Academy of Design in New York.</p>
<p>The presentation will be followed by refreshments and a feedback session on the artwork of attending members.</p>

<p>Featured presenter: professional artist, Greg Rudd. He will discuss his career as a painter, illustrator and stamp designer.</p>
<p>Greg attended The Illustrators Workshop at Marymount College, where he studied with Gold medal winning artists at The Society of Illustrators in NYC who were inducted into The Society of Illustrators Hall of Fame with others like Norman Rockwell and N.C. Wyeth. His training also involved Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, the New York Academy of Art, and study with portrait painter John Howard Sanden.</p>
<p>Greg’s stamp design of Ernest Hemmingway was included in the United States Postal Service show at the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Massachusetts and was selected as one of the best designs put out by the U.S.P.S. between 1960 and 2000. He also exhibited at The American Society of Portrait Artists in New York and at their national exhibition.</p>
<p>Greg has done work for corporations like Pepsi, UPS, The American Stock Exchange, The Los Angeles Times, The Postal Commemorative Society and Golf Digest. He is currently exploring the origin and influences of America&#8217;s Founder&#8217;s as they created the United States of America for a project called Original American Mind. He has created tee shirt designs for it and is planning to do a very large triptych painting depicting America&#8217;s roots and identity.</p>
<p>There will be time for questions, refreshments, and a showing of one work by any attending member.</p>
<p><strong>REMINDER:</strong> <span style="color: #000080;">Lockwood Mathews Art Association Presents:<strong> &#8220;SUMMER IN FAIRFIELD COUNTY&#8221;</strong> featuring the artists of the <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Fairfield Count Arts Association</span>.  The show is open May 7 to August 18.  The Lockwood Mathews Mansion Museum is located at 295 West Avenue Norwalk, CT</span></p>

It is structured along the  entries for memory in the dictionary and how they relate to her work. Her  digital photos are shaped by her interest in philosophy, history, art, music,  and science and combine the Renaissance, technology, genetics, and  Botticelli.</li>

<div>John is a native of North Carolina and has resided in Bridgeport for the  past thirty years. His drawings, oil paintings, and pastels celebrate the world  around him in his portraits, landscapes, and still life works. He received his  BFA from Syracuse University. John’s work has been collected by institutions,  private collectors, churches and homes throughout the East Coast. John is a  member of The Stratford Art Guild, The Connecticut Pastel Society, The Cultural  Alliance of Fairfield and The Fairfield Arts Council. He also provides art  instruction, training and workshops in the Fairfield County area.</div>

<div><span style="color: #000000;">Andrew lives in Black Rock        CT.  He is currently writing his thesis at Boston University CFA and        holds a degree in Art Education from Springfield College.  He teaches        6th to 8th grade Visual Arts at PR Middle School in Norwalk.  Andrew        has done illustration work for magazines, created graphics for album        covers and clothing companies, and displays his work across the United        States. </span></div>
